Learn about the different grades of ceiling
fan
Performance grade ceiling fans are considered
the best. They were actually what brought
ceiling fans back into use during the late
1970s. The performance grade fans are very
sturdy and are constructed well. They have large
motors, which remain quiet while the air is
being moved around even when the fan is
operating at low speeds. These types of fans can
be run constantly for days or even years and
they keep on functioning. These fans are priced
from about $200 to $300 and up but they are
worth the price due to their high levels of
efficiency and the savings the fans will provide
you in energy costs.
These fans that have a traditional appearance
with a designer style and excellent finishes
will cost from about $300 to $1,000.
The type of ceiling fan that has been designed
and manufactured with price in mind is the
medium grade. Price was kept uppermost in the
selection of motors and other elements and in
the manner in which the fans were constructed.
They are considered a step down from the
Performance grade models, but they are still
durable and function well.
These medium grade ceiling fans operate well in
rooms where the ceilings are up to 12' high and
when they run continuously for 12 hours or less.
These types of ceiling fans normally cost from
$100 to $150 for traditional styles and $130 to
$300 for designer styles and better finishes.
The types of fans designated moderate or economy
grade have been designed and manufactured with
lower costs in mind.
